I could leave the review at that.\u00a0 But I know u all want the long ass, unedited Hilger version of how the whole thing went down right?\u00a0 Right?<\/div>\n
Alright then.\u00a0 We met up at Rob’s at 8.\u00a0 Eric tells us that we r voted to play last.\u00a0 That kinda sucks.\u00a0 No that really sucks.\u00a0 Oh well.\u00a0 So we load up and drive to the club.\u00a0 Its on Western right off Fullerton.\u00a0 Its a nice place.\u00a0 A nice dive.\u00a0 Perfect for us.\u00a0 So we load in and hang out for a long time.\u00a0 Arena Venus r set up.\u00a0 We’re hanging out talking with the Knobs and everyone else.\u00a0 My\u00a0sister\u00a0shows up with Kelly who is a friend of my families.\u00a0 That was cool.\u00a0 Then two guys that I work with\u00a0Jim Cavanaugh and Mike Phillips,\u00a0showed up.\u00a0\u00a0Leo “Bones” Toal(shown here, with Rob) and Dave Metko showed up.\u00a0 It was great.<\/div>\n

Even some\u00a0mexican dude\u00a0came into the bar and was trying to sell us some homemade tamales! And what the hell, even the great Dr.’ Z’s dad,\u00a0Dr. Z Sr.\u00a0showed up!(shown here, with Powerknobs bassist, Andrew)<\/p>\n

So Ross from the Knobs feeds us some slices and Dominoes Dots.\u00a0 Thanks Ross.\u00a0 We chill and talk with Steve Gattemayer who is fucking awesome.\u00a0 He was telling us some wild stories about Cincinatti.\u00a0 All night I kept yelling at him “SG representin Cincinatti”.\u00a0 He would just laugh.\u00a0 He thougt Eric and i were a trip.<\/div>\n
Arena Venus start their set.\u00a0 They r a 4 piece with a chick singer.\u00a0 They were alright.<\/div>\n
Then the Powerknobs played.\u00a0 They fucking rocked the house.\u00a0 But Bill needs mutha fuckin strap locks.\u00a0 Or just duct tape that strap on for good.\u00a0 At one point he broke a string and\u00a0Eric\u00a0restrung the bitch during a song. They played all the songs we wanted to hear.\u00a0 They opened with the Powerknobs theme song which is instrumental and went right into Wild Colonial Boy.\u00a0 Eric and I went nuts.\u00a0 They played Library Girl, My Baby’s in the CIA\u00a0and All Night Party Action.\u00a0 They played Bats Blood and Eric and I got to sing, or yell the chorus with Dr. Z.\u00a0 who was going wild on the vocals.\u00a0 Then as a tribute to RG Connect, they did a rendition of Straight 708’n.\u00a0 I think it may have brought a tear to Eric’s eye.<\/div>\n
Next the Steve Gattemayer band played.\u00a0 They were a 3 piece.\u00a0 Gattemayer sings and plays guitar.\u00a0 They opened with a KISS tune, Detroit Rock City.\u00a0 Eric and I were freaked out.\u00a0 After that I was yelling for them to play Deuce or Strutter and Eric yelled for Black Diamond.\u00a0 They were laughing at our enthusiasm.\u00a0 They played a bunch of originals and made us wait for Strutter.\u00a0 It was awesome.\u00a0 Eric sang backups on the other mic.<\/div>\n
Then we played.\u00a0 We put up a sign that I made.\u00a0 I just wrote on a piece of cardboard all ghetto:\u00a0\u00a0www.lowpro708.com\u00a0and then on the back:\u00a0 Low Profile loves bizarrebooks.com.\u00a0 We rocked fo sho.\u00a0 We edited our set a bit.\u00a0 Since Gattemayer played KISS, we had to play KISS.\u00a0 Eric told him that we covered an obscure KISS song and he guessed that it would be off of the Elder which it is.\u00a0 So our set went something like this:<\/div>\n

After the show, we made SG take all the money out of the tip jar.\u00a0 He couldn’t believe it.\u00a0 He kept offering it to us and we wouldn’t take any of it.\u00a0 Dave Metko kept apologizing in advance for any bad pictures he may have taken.\u00a0 Eric told him that if he didn’t stop aplogizing, he’d kick his ass.\u00a0 We talked with some crazy crack head dude outside the club about My Pet Monster, Voltron, other toys and cartoons from our childhood.\u00a0 But he got a bit deeper with Eric telling him about how he plays from his heart and that he believes in it all.\u00a0 I got a parking ticket and Eric told me not to pay it right away and to wait about a year till I get a notice in the mail telling me to pay it and this cracked out dude gives me the best advice.\u00a0 He told me to pay it now while I have the money and get it out of the way.\u00a0 “U may not have the money for that ticket in a year man.”\u00a0 Thats pretty good advice coming from him.\u00a0 So thats it.\u00a0 The show was a blast.\u00a0 U missed it.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
