Low Profile live at the Prodigal Son \/ 2626 Halsted\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday September 25th<\/div>\n
with the Powerknobs and the Planet of the Planets<\/div>\n

What a fucking show.\u00a0 I could start all of my reviews with that line.\u00a0 But seriously.\u00a0 This show was a blast.\u00a0 I emailed Brian who does booking for Prodigal Son and the Fireside and asked him to book us with the Powerknobs and he said they were playing the 25th and he would add our band.\u00a0 So we got the show with like 10 days notice.\u00a0 No problem for Low Profile though.\u00a0 So we get there around 8.\u00a0 We’re all hanging around and whatnot.\u00a0 The bartender\/soundman puts on a CD.\u00a0 Eric and I recognize it.\u00a0 “The Sinner” by Judas Priest.\u00a0 We were going nuts.\u00a0 So we got all rowdy about it and told him nice choice and he said “I only play Priest here.”\u00a0 We were like “Fuckin A.”\u00a0 So we sang along and acted like fools and had fun.\u00a0 The other two bands showed up with their crews and we all talked and whatnot.\u00a0 I think our antics made some people nervous but it was a friendly atmosphere.\u00a0 And get this.\u00a0 One of the weirdest things about this place is that they offer u free bacon and free juice.\u00a0 I mean, cmon.\u00a0 Bacon.\u00a0 And I was told that it was salty as hell.\u00a0 Probably to make u drink more.\u00a0 But someone came up to Rob and I and told us about the free juice and bacon.\u00a0 We didn’t get it and still don’t.\u00a0 But that just added to the madness of the night.\u00a0 Another cool thing about the place is that they had a great choice of beer.\u00a0 Eric and Rob were drinking down some Red Stripes.\u00a0 Whice r from Jamaica.\u00a0 And Eric said that they had a beer that cost $13.50 for a bottle but it was much bigger bottle than average.<\/div>\n

And that was it.\u00a0 We were going to play Want by Jawbreaker but we changed it last minute to Breakin The Law because the sound dude played the whole Priest album Sin After Sin.\u00a0 I asked him what he thought of our\u00a0version of the song\u00a0and he said “You guys played that\u00a0song so fucking raw.\u00a0 It was awesome.”\u00a0\u00a0What a guy.\u00a0 So we were all hot and sweaty and we moved our shit outta the way so the next band could set up.\u00a0 By the way.\u00a0 Let me describe the stage.\u00a0 It was a decent size but the ceiling was very low over the back half of the stage.\u00a0 Maybe 6 and a half feet high.\u00a0 Rob said he kept banging his sticks on the ceiling.\u00a0 Then they had crazy homemade sound proofing along the back wall and on the roof.\u00a0 They filled burlap potatoe type sacks and hung them to the wall.\u00a0 It just looked crazy.\u00a0 Again, adding the to madness of the whole experience of playing this show.<\/div>\n
Right after us, the Planet of the Planets set up.\u00a0 They were mind blowing.\u00a0 I mean crazy music.\u00a0 It didn’t make sense to me.\u00a0 They were a four piece.\u00a0 Drums, Guitar, Bass and then the fourth guy switched between playing guitar, keyboards or he would just sing.\u00a0 They were great.\u00a0 The guitarist wore a cowboy hat.\u00a0 The singer dude wore these crazy old school sunglasses and Eric said he looked like he was in the witness protection program which was kinda true.\u00a0 It looked like he was wearing a disguise.\u00a0 The bassist played a 5 string and he ripped.\u00a0\u00a0Parts of their songs would be very melodic and slow and then the tempo would speed up and they would play some noisy changes.\u00a0 \u00a0They were all very talented and I dug their music a lot.\u00a0 The guitarist said in between songs that he always wanted to see Priest play live but now that he saw us play Breakin The Law, that made his day.\u00a0 Fucking props.\u00a0 They were very nice and cool to talk to and everything.\u00a0 The singer made a comment on stage about Eric and I singing along to the song Screaming For Vengeance by Priest before the show.\u00a0 He said something along the lines of “We don’t promote vengeance and we definately don’t scream for it.”\u00a0 Pretty goofy.<\/div>\n
Then\u00a0the Powerknobs hit the stage.\u00a0 They were great of course.\u00a0 They r a 5 piece.\u00a0 Drums, Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and a frontman singer who is just fucking awesome.\u00a0 What a voice and what a frontman.\u00a0 They covered an oldie by the Dave Clarke Five.\u00a0 At least thats who I think originally played that song.\u00a0 \u00a0I think the song was called “Glad All Over”\u00a0 They rocked it out for sure.\u00a0\u00a0During one song the\u00a0guitarist ripped a solo and started using his full Pabst Blue Ribbon can as a slide and made some crazy sounds and sloshed beer all over himself and his guitar but it was awesome.<\/div>\n
\u00a0So like I said.\u00a0 What a show.\u00a0 It was a ton of fun.\u00a0 I got to play my Nikki Sixx deluxe Gibson bass for the first time at a show.\u00a0 It played great but went out of tune kinda quick.\u00a0 Then I switched and used the Ball.\u00a0 Eric played his maroon Jackson guitar.\u00a0 I don’t think he really had any problems or anything.\u00a0 No technical difficulties whatsoever.<\/div>\n
So thats it.\u00a0 Fun was had by all.\u00a0 Well, most I should say.<\/div>\n
