this is at least the 10th time weve played with shooting blanks and at least the 10th time weve played the mutiny. 2 things that never seem to get old

2) MERCHANDISE
new DVD is completed. 'Low Profile Concert Archives'. contains endless footage from shows and rehersals from our early days, 98-2000. also has the entire show with restored audio from riverpalooza III, a show that was already immortailized in live digital audio on our 1st live CD, already and has been available on cdbaby http://www.cdbaby.com/lowprofile6. plus you get a full length commentary track from the band, plus commentaries on select footages elsewhere on the dvd. we also has a grip of double DVDs, that contain this bitch plus our 1st DVD 'live @ afternites'. we will be giving those away at shows no doubt, the non-double DVDs will be available on cdbaby for $5 by the end of the week, or next week at the latest.

3) NEW MATERIAL
we got 4 new songs, the first 4 songs weve written since our last album from 2004. it truly kills and we will be playing 3 of em at our next 2 shows listed above. go peep out our forum and watch me and hilger swap riffs in mp3 format over the inter-web and concoct the songs one step at a time. you can peep disjointed riffs i laid down at 640am when i got up for work, cause i woke up with them banging around my otherwise empty head. we are working on some musical guests and collaborations for this upcoming album (by the end of the year) and so far mr. keith muck of the cobs/FFFFFFFFF/artic sleep/unearthed elf is definately confirmed and slated to give us some vocals on a song. there will be others as well. maybe even you you ugly fuck.

4) DRINKING PROBLEM
i have one, its sort of unmanagable as well. expereience it first hand at a show or stop by my dump and recieve a complimentary shoe up the ass.

5) RIP TO SOME OF THE GREATEST BANDS IN CHICAGO'S HISTORY
if that sounds like an overstatement, take solace in the fact your head is up your fucking ass. three of the bands i respect and enjoy most have called in quits in the past year, less then that actually. first up was the rules of attraction. i was very fucking fortunate to be able to share the stage with these guys who were truly my fucking idols before i even knew how to play a fucking guitar. check out their site before it diseappears as im sure it eventually will http://www.rofarock.com.

that man is ross woods, he was the drummer for the powerknobs. we played with these guys 10 times and they were truly our partners in crime. there are few bands we have played with where you know all the members of both bands are totally on the level with each other and get along that goddamn well. i went to strip clubs with these guys and did all types of debauched shit. they were truly fucking unbelievablly talented and skilled and the best group of people i have met amongst this sewer infested chicago music scene. i dont even know the details of this one, its breaking news to me as well. all i know is that they will be missed. but more importantly, becuase i could give a fuck about the rest of the world, I will fucking miss them. http://www.powerknobs.com

its been a hot minute since you heard from satan165. amongst the reasons why, of late i have wrestled with many mailing list issues. please accept my forgiveness for any BS emails you may have recieved saying you were subscribed/unsubscribed, etc.... we changed servers and i transfered the whole list but the new mailing list service sucked. so i got yet another one. now all is well.

lets get down to business!!!! first of all, we got a show this saturday the 25th at the mutiny. the mutiny is located at fullerton/western and like all shows at ed's fine establishment there is NO COVER to get in. we will be accompanied with an all star revue including the symptoms (our 5th time with those guys) and also vacation bible school and lesser events. big up to donny from lesser events for offering us the show. this will be our 7th time at the mutiny and i look forward to redeeming myself personally after a disasterous performance at our last gig last fall when i suffered from a nervous breakdown of sorts.

show #1 -- this friday the 7th // @ fantasy lounge which is located at montrose and elston (near pulaski). this will be our 3rd time playing there and each time was in the fall of the past 2 years, and each time the gig was set up by the gracious josh of after the fight (and previous to that, burnside bridge). we are playing with ATF and first round failure...this is one of their first gigs and this newly formed band just rose from the ashes of burnside bridge and the cobs.....so you cant go wrong with that shit. be there and you can hit up susys with me when we are hammered after the show and gorge on something from their large and diverse menu.......

show #2 -- halloween party in schiller park (on saturday the 29th)! we have played at this party in 1998 and 2003 and we are glad to be back again. both times it was a fucking blast and i expect it to be again this year. i badly wanted to do this show but we were having a hard time working out the detials but finally did this week. in 2003 i brought joe from squared off and he ended up banging out some dumb whore in the back of his filthy van. the fucked up part is that i was wandering around drunk and looking for my cooler of beer and peered into the van and saw them humping. it was awesome. so since i cant get laid to save my life maybe you can come and get your fuck on and ill just watch thru the window. i wont beat off (much). anyways if you want to attend this bitch hit me up and ill give you details and all that. otherwise im not going to broadacst details to the world. we will be playing 1st no doubt and playing 99% misfits songs..........

show #3 -- november 16th @ nitecaps which is located around 5000 w. irving park road. this place used to be kind of a shitty place to play when we gigged there back in like 2000. well i had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the mighty symptoms a few weeks ago and it was really nice and enjoyable this time around. the folks at rose red productions must have hit their head becuase they actually asked us if we wanted to play this gig. it is with first of all shooting blanks and this will be our 10th fucking time playing with them which keeps them secure in the top spot of the 'bands that have played with low profile the most' , a dubious honor no doubt. also playing will be no class citizen. no class citizen contains members of new society of anarchists and is therefore associated with wisconsins turkey vulture records. we have been on that labels last 4 compilations (check our our discography page for details on that!!). we got to play with NSOA many years back with DRI and it will be an honor to play with this NSOA off shoot..........

well lets backtrack a little bit...we recorded out last album get it RiGht, keep it RiGht back in may of 2004. we played a few shows after it was released up until july 31st, when we played at buddys in franklin park. it was an awesome fucking show, but after that it was time for a fucking break. i think i speak for the whole band to some extent, but at any rate myself personally....i was extremely fucking burned out. i hope you enjoy that album because its basically my own personal decent into madness. alot of that has to do with my lack of patience and on this project i became a bit of a perfectionist. i am happy with the final product but i was pretty fucking tired of playing the guitar to put it simply. we didnt reherse or anything for months. sometime early this year we started talking again and then started rehersing.

we played our first show back with a bunch of great friends and great bands: rocky denis, shooting blanks and after the fight. the show went down at the big horse and it was a blast. just a wee bit rusty, but i dont think any amount of rehersals can prepare you for a show when you havent taken the stage in 9 months.

are you bored yet? well you should be. but worry not, this newsletter is about to get more exciting. ill even start talking about the present instead of reminicing about old bullshit.

well weve got a grip of great shows lined up, and it wasnt until today that alot of details were finally hammered out.

first up is this weekend, may 7th at the mutiny. we are playing with are most excellent friends all teh way from ohio, the steve gattermayer band. we played with steve and his crew over 2 years ago, also at the mutiny. it will be good to chill with them again and jam the fuck out.

the next show is may 18th. now this one is going to be a blockbuster. its at the bottom lounge, a club we have been dying to play at for a long time. weve got a fucking excellent roster of bands for that evening. weve got highball (http://www.highballchicago.com) -- these guys seem to have played with at least 10 bands we know well and have played with. yet somehow we never crossed paths with the mighty high ball. i look forward to sharing the stage with them. next up weve got the rules of attraction (http://www.rofarock.com). i have been basically stalking this band for a while, and i even spent halloween 2004 with them and it was a fucking great great show. its total coincidence we happend to get booked with them and i think its fucking great. last up youve got pitch black. pitch black contains members of screw 32 and the nerve agents. ive seen screw 32 live before and i know hilgers seen teh nerve agents. they are signed to revelation records -- a label of which i probably own half of their discography. they are on a big ass tour right now and it will be a privledge to see and play with them.

after that we will make our return to our hometown haunt, buddys in franklin park. we are working currently on booking some other fuckign awesome acts and hopefully fuffilling a 'dream bill' i have wanted to do for a long long time. the other bands are still tentative at this point, but even if that falls thru we will call upon some other awesome bands we know, of which there are many. i cannot give away any more details quite yet on that but stay tuned.

we released our 2nd live album live@afternites a few years ago. time has passed and technology has improved and we have seen fit to unleash upon you the live DVD of that same performace. live@afternites DVD is now available thru our fabolous online distributor CDbaby and we shall also have copies at our upcoming shows, while they last.

our new album is coming along very well. we finished writing a few weeks ago and brought 9 new tracks to our buddy scott at joe quality studios. last weekend we tracked all day saturday and i was layering in guitars all day sunday. guitar overdubs have never been something that ive been too interested in doing, mostly the in the interest of time/money, but this time ive gone all out. i had 4 of my axes lines up at my disposal and i played for about 4 hours straight until i became so mentally exhausted i could barely speak. bill knobs from the powerknobs www.powerknobs.com came in and threw down a lead on new track 'JPF' as we had planned for months and that went down without a hitch as well. this coming weekend will have me and hilger doing vocals as well as mixing this bitch down. the creative process has begun on the inserts and we hope to have this thing to the duplicators in a month. go to the discrography page and click the album cover for the new record and you will have access to 4-track demo versions of all the new songs. these will be taken down once i get the new album to cdbaby which is ASAP in my book.

the week before last we were in another studio -- the ear wax factory with hoser from squared off. we threw down our song for an upcoming compilation of chicago bands covering other chicago bands (details are limited as of yet, but look for a release date this summer). we did 'release' by hitmen which some of you might remember from around 1998 when that band was rocking the fireside. we had some more time so we threw down a few other tracks including the dark rockabilly song by the misifts (and recently covered by tiger army) 'american nightmare', as well as 'vampira' (also by the misfits) and live show favorite, the theme from 'king of the hill'. all 3 of those are available thru the music section of our site. youll have to wait for the hitmen song when the comp comes out.

compilation #2 -- turkey vulture records, home of our friends new society of anarchists, who we met when they came thru town with DRI a few years back. we will have a new re mastered version of 'sex party' (from 'hybrid style') featured on volume 7 of their compilation 'the harder the better'. look for that very soon as well.

we are in talks with oregon based label dead records regarding possible west coast distribution and nationwide mail order distro. in the mean time we will have 2 tracks featured on volume 1 of their compilation 'are you dead yet?'. the 2 tracks will be 'i want no part' from way back in 1999 on our debut '15 story fireball' as well as 1 other track to be chosen off the new album.

we only have 1 show currently booked, june 20th at the mutiny. and we are possibly going to do another in the next couple of months there with our friends the cobs.

our last show, the debut assualt of punk rock on lyons den neighbors 'triple ds' courtsey ratbag hero/bone records was a wild success.

mp3.com folded long ago. well i guess garageband.com bought them out and is in possession of their servers and all of the songs. so you can transfer the songs to garageband.com for free, which is what we just did. look for them to be up in the next couple of days. and as a heads up to other bands that lost their mp3.com sites but have garageband.com sites -- take advantage and trasfer your shit over!!

3)compilation #1 -- chicago comp is due to the label people by may 15th. look for it by summer. were doing the hitmen 'release' and hope to bust it out live as well at one of the upcoming shows.

4)compilation #2 -- turkey vulture records. these guys have put out some nice comps before with bands like new society of anarchists. in fact they have released 2 full lengths from nsoa, we copped them from the band personally when we got down with them and DRI a while back. this label is based out of wisconsin and i recognize a ton of names when i look at the track listsings of their multi-part comp 'the harder the better'. were going to put up 'sex party' for a track and god knows its HARDER then a motherfucker!!

3) chicago compilation -- i dont have a lot of details here. this is going to be a comp of bands covering old chicago bands songs. we are doing 'release' by the hitmen. you might remember them from around '96. sometime this summer it will be out, also with the burbanks, squared off and the phenoms and many others. hopefully to be recording this in the next month at the ear wax facotory with hoser from squared off behind the board.

1) friday september 26th. low profile w/burnside bridge & shooting blanks. fantasy lounge@m... and elston why this is important: first of all, there are not enough '3-or-less' band shows around. 3 bands is a good amount. you wont get bored. you might have heard of burnside bridge. wait a minute, if you havent you are a damned fool. shooting blanks is also world renowned. this will be the last show without deech, as the band will then go into alcoholic hibernation and do nothing until deech returns (which will be very soon!).

2)saturday september 27th. powerknobs at bar vertigo. why this is important: maybe because the powerknobs are the best band in chicago! if you dont like the powerknobs, then you just dont like music. i cannot think of anything better to do then see the powerknobs on a weekend when i dont have to work or have a gig. what will you be doing (only acceptable answer: to see smear campaign at the mutiny, just down the street. unfortunately, this is another instance in recent memory where smear camp has played on the same night as other bands and i have to choose.)

3)sunday september 28th. standing drunk outside of bar vertigo. WPNA 1490-AM@m... why this is important: shooting blanks will be on the radio with deech. i will be drunk after just getting out of the powerknobs show. BYOC (bring your own cell phone -- in order to call in and harass the band and pepper them with questions. i myself will be professing my love for the band and thanking them for the wonderful 2 1/2 shows (and 1 rehersal) that i was able to sit in with the band and share the stage (or living room) with them.

4)sunday september 28th. bigwig@d...&ashland why this is important: because its the last fucking show at bigwig! this is a sad event as i can remember. i dont care if michael bolton was playing there, i would go to the show because its your last chance to be there! 1)MESSAGE BOARD/FORUM i have spent alot of time on messageboards and forums throughout the net. ive seen real shitty ones where the popups just did not quit. ive seen forums with no popups but lots of ugly banners. ive seen those that had no ads at all but still sucked and were devoid of cool options.
