We played a party on Labor Day in 1999. It was a blast, when the party was over one of the girls who lived there showed me this guitar. It was white, it was made by Kramer who I had never heard of. I plugged it in and the pickups were mostly shot, it just screamed with feedback. One of the frets was loose too so that the high E string got stuck in there sometimes. As payment for us playing, and partially for a gift , and partially just to get rid of it, she gave it to me for nothing. It has a Floyd Rose but the locking nuts were mising. The tremelo is nothing like the Floyd Rose on my 4 Jacksons, you don't have to cut the ball end of the string off, its quite odd.
It had a humbucker and 2 single coils. I ripped all of them out and put in 1 EMG-81 active humbucker in the bridge position. I filled in the holes where the other pickups were with newspaper and put a huge sticker over the holes. I eventually took it in to have that fret fixed and get a setup. I also bought locking nuts. This guitar screams, the neck is crazy, the action is super low and you can really make it rip harmonics. But it breaks strings like a madman. Sometimes it mysteriously breaks strings when its in the case! One time I brought it to a show and opened it up like that on stage. I had another guitar so it didn't matter but it sure freaked me out. To really prove how much of a mongrel this guitar is, check the detail pic below. I broke a string at practice on the day I took the pic, I only played it for 3 or 4 songs.
